Chislehursts Golf Club’s Elvis Tribute Charity Night for a great cause !!!!!

Hi everybody!!, Its been a busy weekend for myself as an Elvis Tribute Act. On Friday night (May 25th 2018) I was the entertainment at a charity fundraiser at Chislehurst Golf Club (https://www.chislehurstgolfclub.co.uk/ ) in London Kent. I did not know much about the cause beforehand and the great work and support they do. Here is the link to the charity (http://www.maytree.org.uk/)

My opinion is there are very few people who are not affected by this subject directly or indirectly in one way or another. A charity run by mostly voluntary workers, the event was very well supported by the members of this London Golf Club so a big thank you to them for making the evening a total success.

I played just a small part in procedings by performing a low key introductory set (Elvis GI Blues), this was followed by a great raffle and have been informed by the event organiser Peter Robson that over £3500 was raised so well done. After the raffle the party really got started with some great moments including a singalong to Suspicious Minds. There were obviously some Elvis fans there and by the end of the night everybody was dancing away to great Elvis hits like Proud Mary. I enjoyed myself so much, that when my Elvis set had finished I did some extra singing some Beatles songs from my One Man Beatles show still dressed as Elvis. A great evening with good people that makes my job as an Elvis Impersonator easy!! I hope to return to this London Golf Club someday.

The next day (Saturday 26th May) my Elvis Tribute Show was local in Dover Kent for an entertainment evening at a large residential retirement sheltered housing unit. Another great evening was had and here are some of the photos from the Elvis evening. Being an Elvis Tribute act is the best job in the world!!!

Elvis Impersonator goes down a storm at The Ganges Indian Restaurant

Hi everybody, the continuing nice weather means some hot and sweaty shows at the moment for Elvis Tribute Acts. I had  a great evening last night at THE GANGES INDIAN RESTAURANT (http://www.gangesrestauranteastbourne.com/) in Eastbourne East Sussex. It was well worth the trip for myself all the way down from Kent to the Sussex south coast. The restaurant was sold out with people who love the music of Elvis Presley supplemented with a very reasonable three course meal and the talents of one of the South’s leading Elvis Tribute Acts Chris Field as Elvis.

Firstly I would like to thank the owners of The Ganges for their support of the past few years. A restaurant with breathtaking views over Eastbourne Sovereign Harbour their live music evenings have grown with popularity with some world class tribute acts such as Abba Chique  https://www.abbachique.com/

I took this photo from the Ganges Indian Restaurant while I was setting up to take in the wonderful view. Setting up before the diners arrive is a complete must and an unseen part of the professional ethic of being a Elvis Tribute Act.

Had some lovely moments in the Elvis  Tribute evening allowing some guys obviously mad on Elvis to take to the stage singing Suspicious Minds and The Wonder of You. The public responses to these moments are always great to see  for these guys who display great nerve just to put themselves at the mercy of  the spotlight for the diners. These Elvis Tribute evenings begin at roughly 8pm and finish at 10.30pm with the lucky ladies getting a hawaiian garland as a touching momento of their evening.

Ive performed at countless restaurants across London and The South East over the years and restaurant cabaret singing is a very distinct form of entertainment, aswell as your own individual performance being to a high standard (but look out for the waiters!!!) there must be a strong emphasis  on public participation to make their evening complete and as enjoyable as possible. This is why Elvis always goes down great as a form of entertainment in restaurants. Below is a small promotional video of my cabaret act from mainly kindly donated public footage for anyone interested in enquiring about hiring my Elvis Tribute Act for a restaurant event. As well as performing Elvis only evenings, I also now perform a very entertaining Elvis / Beatles evening.

Elvis Impersonator Gets Everybody “All Shook Up” in Tunbridge Wells Kent

Hello everybody had a great weekend of Rock n Roll at my Elvis Tribute Night at The High Broom Working Mens Club last Saturday ( May 12th 2018). It was my first visit to the venue and I was pleasantly suprised at the turnout on the night  especially as the  Eurovision Song Contest was on that evening. There was a nice stage with great accoustic plus supplementary lighting to add to my own which created a great atmosphere. The crowd were full of Elvis fans from as far as Sittingbourne and Deal in  Kent and provided myself with great song requests which I gladly obliged to. The venue was very close to another venue I once performed at The Southborough Club which has now sadly closed down like so many social clubs in these hard economic times. The Kent locals were great people and I have been informed I will be rebooked there later on in the year with a date to be confirmed. An Elvis Impersonator always goes down great in  social clubs  with the night ending with plenty of dancing.

The evening started off with a 1970s Las Vegas set with hits such as “CC Rider”, “Burnin Love”, and I got the audience singing along to “The Wonder of You” and ” Suspicious Minds”. A member of the audience who travelled all the way from Sittingbourne Kent to support my Elvis Show requested a great gospel number “You Gave Me A Mountain” which Elvis sang in his “Aloha from Hawaii” concert of 1973. I actually wore the Aloha Elvis jumpsuit that evening, It was my first ever suit and it is now over 10 years of age and still wearing well despite the many Elvis Tribute Shows I have performed in it. I do have the cape to this suit but rarely wear it as its so heavy. Some of these Elvis jumpsuits feel more like a suit of armour wearing them due to their sheer weight.

The second set I went back to The Elvis GI Blue era. I have an actual authentic vintage US Army uniform when I perform this show. It is very popular wherever I go. The second set started off with the great song “GI Blues” followed by “Frankfurt Special” and the classic German Bier Keller song “Tonights So Right for Love”. A gentle asked me to sing “Didja Ever” which sealed off a great night!!! Well done Elvis fans in Kent X.

On an end note to this weeks blog I am singing my Elvis Tribute Night at The Ganges Indian Restaurant Eastbourne in East Sussex this coming Tuesday May 22nd. The restaurant link which can be found on my events page alongside other Elvis events.  https://www.elvis1066tribute.co.uk/elvis-events/

Elvis Impersonator in Camber East Sussex and how to clean Elvis Jumpsuits

Hi everybody hope you are all enjoying the lovely Bank Holiday weather. My Elvis Tribute Show in Camber Sands East Sussex this Bank Holiday went great. Im posting a few photos of the evening, I wore the famous Elvis Owl Suit which Elvis wore from the 1972 documentary “Elvis On Tour” where he sang “Bridge Over Troubled Waters”. Im sure I will be back there in the very near future.

With the great weather this weekend I have been washing some of my Elvis 1970s jumpsuits taking advantage of the drying conditions. Probably the worse part of being an Elvis Tribute is the cleaning of these rhinestone suits. They can get dirty and sweaty on stage so need to be cleaned regularly to keep a clean image on stage.

Washing dirty Elvis jumpsuits in the bath is the best way to clean them !!

I have had this conversation with many other Elvis Impersonators and we all seem to have different techniques. I use soda crystals in warm bath water followed by a good rinse in cool clean water, finally finishing in a pool of clean cool water with added fabric conditioner to leave them smelling great. The worst incident of a dirty Elvis Jumpsuit was when a person accidently spilt red wine on a white suit of mine when I was an Elvis Impersonator in Ipswich Suffolk performing at a private party. Unfortunately these events occasionally happen from time to time.
